OBJECTIONABLE PRACTICES

March 18-April 29 2016

Craig Leonard, Tamara Henderson, Kevin Rodgers, Meredith Snider, and Alex Morrison.

The interest lies in both the object based practice of this group of artists, and the repelling aspects of the work.

We live in a time in which artwork greatly relies on didactic explanation, so much so that the expectation of pleasing aesthetics has become a burdensome weight to be jettisoned.

By casting the weight of aesthetics aside these artists have created a class of anti-specialization in which medium and to a certain extent material have given way to art and meaning.

This exhibition will focus on sculptural and installation components (objects), yet presentation for our purposes, does not necessarily have to be defined as an object.
