The Central Art Garage has been open for a year, and launches a new exhibition tonight to mark the anniversary.

The compact gallery and framing shop, built inside a space that used to be an auto repair garage, will be home to the exhibition One.

“We are asking some artists that have not shown work with CAG previously to submit one object -based work,” its says on the CAG website “The work can be new or existing, large or small. The work will be displayed on plywood plinths and plywood shelves throughout the gallery. The idea is to have simple, sparse presentation allowing gallery goers more time to contemplate less work.”

The artists include Meredith Jane Snider, Martin Hyde, Uta Riccius, Daniel Sharp and Bozica Radjenovic.

The official opening is 7 to 10 p.m. tonight, Sept. 12. The garage is at 66 B Lebreton St. North, in Chinatown. (The garage is tucked in back of other buildings, so don’t drive right on by.)

The exhibition One continues to Oct. 5.
