Bozica Radjenovic performance: Included/Excluded is one of five performance artworks featured in the inaugural exhibition Àdisòkàmagan / Nous connaître un peu nous-mêmes / We’ll all become stories

Sunday, June 3, 2018 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

The performance will be ongoing on the Firestone Staircase in OAG's Mackenzie King Bridge lobby.

Utilizing fifty-two balls of red wool and two red knitted wearable sculptures, the performance Included/Excluded recalls the myth of Sisyphus who had to roll a large boulder up a hill for eternity. Creating an artwork is also a Sisyphean labour. When an artwork is done, it has a destiny of its own. It is like a bird leaving the nest, sent up to fly or fall.

Bozica Radjenovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, where she received an MFA (1991) from the University of Arts, Belgrade. In 1993, she moved to Canada during the civil war in the former Yugoslavia. She works in sculpture and performance, with an interest in soft materials, where the vacant space within these sculptures (and in relation to her body) suggests a haptic memory of bodies and objects in absence. Radjenovic has exhibited widely and her work is included in museum and private collections in Canada and internationally.
