Craig Leonard - Shaken Antlers
February 2015
Shaken Antlers was an installation in which the artist employed 24 cork mats, each uniquely altered, set on a low stage to create a barrier to entry to the gallery.
“I am interested in subtly making the familiar strange so there is a point of entry, but no reliable resolution. The creation of defamiliarized experience, then, means the possibility of the creation of new origins. Herein, for me, is art’s political function.”
